After the ongoing and devastating attacks in Ukraine, which have left millions of people internally displaced, NeedsList responded with urgency and launched a platform, connecting local NGOs, international aid organizations, and private sector companies to support the needs of those affected by war.

The Welcome Exchange
In response to the influx of Afghan refugees in the fall of 2021, Welcome.US tapped NeedsList to create the Welcome Exchange--the nation’s first-in-kind giving platform for refugees. Using our software, we created a custom, branded marketplace for refugee resettlement agencies and businesses across the country to post needs and make offers for our Afghan neighbors. Since its launch, over $20 million in resources have been committed to welcoming refugees.
Red Recuperación
Venezuela’s crisis and mass displacement have made it difficult to identify the resources needed at the community level across Latin America. Red Recuperación is an online marketplace that aggregated needs from frontline workers, and matched them with offers from local businesses and the Venezuelan diaspora. This project was powered by NeedsList’s real-time matching software and designed in collaboration with implementing partners: Scalabrini International Migration Network, CORE Group, Diálogo Diverso, COOPI, and Presente.
Hurricane Dorian: connecting private sector offers with needs
After Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas in September 2019, NeedsList deployed a landing page for USAID/OFDA for nonprofits and private sector companies to list needs and offers, provided the USAID/OFDA office with language and graphics for social media, and directly engaged participating organisations to facilitate matched donations. In under two months, over two dozen companies committed to over four million dollars of in-kind donations. NeedsList facilitated matches representing a total of over $200,000 of donations to NGOs working in The Bahamas.
Connecting Grassroots Refugee Organisations to Donors in Greece
From 2016-2019, NeedsList was a key platform supporting the needs of grassroots organisations in Greece who provided aid with dignity to the tens of thousands of refugees and asylum seekers stranded in squalid camps and in urban squats in the country. We established relationships with local suppliers to allow individual and corporate donors to purchase essential items in bulk quantities, ensuring needed supplies support the local economy and get to their intended destination quickly and efficiently.
