Funding for our work to help overcrowded refugee camps on Lesvos and Samos

$260.00 out of $3000.00 donated

Refugee4Refugees

Over 15,000 refugees are currently living in Moria Camp on the island of Lesvos, which has a capacity for 3,000. On Samos, nearly 5,000 refugees are living in a camp built for 650.

Most of the daily support for the basic needs of these new arrivals falls to grassroots organizations like ours. With your support, we can continue to provide basic necessities and dignity to those who need it most, including food, hygiene supplies, and clothing.

Refugee4Refugees Camp

MISSION STATEMENT

Refugee4Refugees founder Omar Alshakal sought to create a non-political organisation that addresses the needs and concerns of refugees, while also encouraging fellow asylum seekers to get involved and take the lead in relief efforts.

As a former refugee, Omar brings a unique perspective as someone who arrived in Europe in 2014, after swimming for 14 hours from Turkey to Greece. He has seen the weaknesses of the asylum process first hand. Omar started the charity to tackle these challenges head on. As a former lifeguard, he saw an opportunity to improve boat spotting and landing support, but also to improve the lives of refugees living conditions in the camps.
