The Pampiraiki Support Initiative for Refugees & Migrants started its action in 2015 when the refugees from the islands arrived at the port of Piraeus. With the daily presence of our volunteers at the arrivals of 'refugee' ships, with the installation of a reception base in the E1 Gate building provided by the Piraeus Port Authority and with the collaboration of the social solidarity structures operating in Piraeus, we managed to offer to the refugees medical aid, food, clothes, etc. contributed by Greek and foreign citizens. With the closure of the borders the port turned into an informal camp of thousands of trapped refugees which we tried to coordinate. Since the resettlement of the port refugees to official camps and other refugee accommodation facilities in the cities, we continue their daily supply of food and other essential necessities -which are now mostly coming from volunteer groups abroad. We also supply the refugee camps on the islands.
Greek and foreign volunteers are most welcome at our Elliniko Warehouse to help in receiving, classifying and distributing humanitarian aid to refugees, immigrants, homeless people, etc. of every nationality.
